CrunchDaddy Popcorn is pleased and proud to announce that we have removed all corn syrup from our products! Effective today, September 30, 2016, all gourmet popcorn products produced, shipped and delivered by CrunchDaddy Popcorn will not contain any form of corn sweetener:
- No “high-fructose” corn syrup
- No “light” corn syrup
- No “dark” corn syrup
NO CORN SYRUP, WHATSOEVER! (and no artificial sweeteners, either!)
For the past five years, our caramel popcorn products have been produced using “light” corn syrup (which is common industry practice) rather than high-fructose corn syrup (used by some producers). The process of making a crunchy, flavorful and shelf-stable caramel involves combining and cooking with multiple types of sugars that will ultimately bond to form the coating on our caramelized popcorn products. For many manufacturers, corn syrup has been a key ingredient in that process for decades.
A great number of consumers in recent years have grown concerned about the consumption of processed corn products, especially corn syrups. Their comments to us through correspondence and at public events as well as their purchasing habits gave us sufficient reason to examine our recipes and our production processes in search of a way to eliminate corn syrup from our products while maintaining the taste and the quality that CrunchDaddy Popcorn is known for.
We’re thrilled to share the news that our efforts have been a success! We can also tell you that these changes were not easy to implement, but have been well worth the effort. There are a variety of other sweeteners that can be used in place of corn syrup, but they come at a steep price, which means that using them would cause a drastic increase in the price of our products. The changes that we have put in place will not affect the price, taste or quality of our products whatsoever.
Share this great news with your friends and loved ones by sharing a big tub of fresh CrunchDaddy Popcorn!
Yours in Crunch,
